Basic upgrade?
  • I noticed that you could get a basic upgrade with game money and I'd like some tips. I've been trying to save up but I'd like to know if there's a faster way then putting horses in the auction and selling them...

  • It takes time but boosting your show bonus by shiwing everybody helps.
  • @best friend I've already showed them all :-(( I don't want to spend to much more on horses and testing and stuff like that but I'm trying to sell some horses

  • Not just one of two shows. You have to alter them and keep them. Usually the older a horse the more points and earnings he has. This is what builds your show bonus (I currently make 7k in show bonus everyday, but I own over 200 show horses)

It will be an extremely long process if you try to do everything with game money. You'll have to buy extra barn and slow build up your show herd, once your herd is large enough you'll need to start saving to buy the basic upgrade.
I personally bought a 6 month upgrade with real money so I can't provide tips

  • It takes time. You have to be patient. You have to show everyone every week. Try to adopt some more horses. It takes 12500 to buy 1 IV. It takes 15 IVS to get the basic upgrade. You can do it but you have to be patient.
  • For now just do the free testing. If you create horses that say homo bay or any color create dont test for color. For now dont test for consistency.
  • I thought it took 30 lVS to get the basic upgrade... I'll have to check again

  • It does take 30 IVs for the basic upgrade. I started playing in August and had enough saved up by December for the basic upgrade with game money. It takes patience and strategy.

I started off showing everything and free testing everything. Breeding those that passed testing and experimenting with colors. Kept as many gen 2 spays and gelds as I had room for but sold all the pretty intact babies. Watch the forum to see what colors/patterns are popular and breed for those, you might be able to sell those special colors for slightly more even without the paid tests - however don't depend on this. I didn't want to breed inferior horses and since I had no way to test them I thought it best to not breed higher gens until I could afford an upgrade. Bought barns as I could afford them. More barns means more horses to both breed and show. Stocked up on rank specials I could get for cheap. Play the public auction right and you can sometimes get some cheap. When I was close to my goal I sold some of the more popular rank specials I had. The December rank specials really helped.

Of course if you can afford to upgrade with real money that's great because Ammit depends on that real money to keep this game going. But it isn't an option for everyone.

  • It's 30 IVs, and I did a lot by auctioning horses. I created a bunch of 4 yo mares at once and then put them into a pasture with a stud that was not a main line but a Rank Special. That way, I spent 2500 on each mare, and 500 on each foal, but I got 2600 back on each horse I auctioned. that was definitely before Ammit changed the lowest bid that deletes horses to 2500. If you're just auctioning foundation horses now I don't see how you're making money. Anyway, the reason why I put them in with a good stud was so that if anything came out that I liked, I had the chance the foal would be good enough to keep. I happened to have a Basic Upgrade already as a present, so I also PTd the foals and kept some show ponies.
Someone bought me a few barns and pastures as a gift at the beginning of my game, but I bought the rest with game money. I have more than 2,000 horses now, and a pretty good show bonus from 13 hundred show ponies. :D
The Basic is worth it. :) Testing makes my personal game a lot more meaningful. :D
  • Yes @roseflute that's actually a really good idea! I'll have to try it

  • Sorry Eastern typed wrong. You can get there. Remember though once you have the basic upgrade a year from then you will have to buy the ivs to keep it.
  • @best friend I'm planning on only keeping it for a year unless I really want to keep it and keep playing.

  • You may want to consider buying an extra barn or two first so that you can have more show ponies. More show ponies accumulating points will increase your income and help you save up faster.

  • @salvistar that's what I'm planning on trying to do. I'm just trying to earn a little bit of money right now to get a barn

  • I have made you a temporary member of my Horse Exchange and put a high point gelding up for you for adoption price. He has ESB as a prefix for his name to make it clear that he is for you. The other horses are promised to AztecArabians.

If you keep Katlorion in your stable until he passes out of the game from old age, he will give sizeable boost to your showing bonus. Keep on showing him and he will keep on adding points and increasing his showing bonus value. He's worth a great deal more as part of your show string than he would be resold.
