has anyone noticed how messed up the ice lines are
  • I have been noticeing that a lot of the ice lines are very uneven. I have a bunch of ice horses and only one is an even bred 3g. 98% of ice horses I see are uneven unless I see ice of foundations. I'm guessing that's why the rule of only ice can go on to foundations. its crazy how many people on here breed for color not quality especially when people first start out on here.
  • I know when I first started on here I didn't understand about "Even Breeding" I know that I bred a whole heap of ice horses. I bred for high PT scores and I got them. I have a whole stable of ice horses that have large PT scores. I will be keeping them for show ponies, now that I understand about even breeding. I will however be breeding a couple more uneven horses so that I can build up a great show heard. I am just making sure that I Geld/ Spay any horses that are being sold to the public.

  • that's great I never thought about just breeding them for high PT scores then gelding them for show ponies I think I'm going to do that with my ice horses tht have high PT, and I have a lot of them that are uneven lol
  • Uneven breeding would be the reason why so many Ice groups are private and only available for real money and kept between breeders. The experienced players can keep those lines wonderful, while new players get the hang of the game.
I can't wait for the next ice line to be brought out. It will be my pride and joy line. :)

  • yes I cant wait to get a hang of the game and do well like the top players. I do have an even bred 3g mare so I'm going to use her to make my ice lines better next season and only even breed her to ice stallions shes very pretty and flashy to :) I just got done spaying and gelding some of my very pretty ice horses but the will make good show horses their PT score was way lower then there daddy's
  • I try to keep most of my lines even but did end up buying an uneven ice stallion that is A papered and out of a foundation mare....he produces really nice foals, fillies generally stay intact but all will make nice show horses!
  • Sadly satin seems to be going the same way. Too many people breeding for color not quality. :(
  • I have a buddy chat for quality horses to bring into the lines who want/need it. Even bred from PF, TNP, and ExPerf foundations and only superior bred goals from them. Working on collecting people to breed and sell for all sizes and generations.
  • I have to say that I think you can get perfectly good quality by using plain old foundations, you don't need XPerfs, PFs, and TNPs exclusively, to have quality lines. I would hate to see basic foundations be shunned because they aren't good enough. Quality, in my opinion, results from careful consideration by the PERSON choosing the horses, not just the horses.

Hard as we try to educate people, there are gonna be 'pony mills' that just crank out horses, especially pretty ones, because they have decided that's the way to 'win' the game.

  • Yes I understand everyone I did uneven breeding when I first started but now I've gelded and spayed most of my horses that are uneven and less then their parents. I really like that they get showing bonus for being gelded and spayed so I do it more now except the horses that are superior in paper and PT
  • Yes satin horses lines can be pretty bad to but I did get a hold papered mare and bred her to a high quality star papered stud so I got some really nice pearl and satin foals but they won't be ready for months sadly
  • So long as someone is enjoying the game does it really matter?

  • When they are scamming people and hurting others it absolutely matters. It's never been an issue when people do their own thing. It's an issue when they take advantage and hurt others.
  • I guess I don't understand how it could be used to hurt others. Selling someone a horse for more money than it is worth? I figure you should do your research before you spend a ton of money on a horse, even if it isn't real money. Also, unless you are breeding a horse that is worse than a foundation there is always a horse out there that it would match well with. Maybe that is a second gen, maybe it's a fourth gen. Even a horse that is a step backwards from it's parents can be used by someone else to step forward.

I have sold a lot of horses that were a step back in my lines, and others have used them to build their own lines. A number of those horses offspring are on the leaderboards. Unless a horse is worse than a foundation, it's not garbage. You just need to find the right level of horse to pair it with.
  • This is the game where people Breed, Collect, Show or Love
Everyone has to remember it's for Fun it's a game.
  • It's nice when the genes are filled with good quality but in the end, it is a game and is meant to be fun rather than stressful. It sucks when people are scammed into buying for color. That is true. But it's all for fun and shouldn't be filled with pressure. That is just my opinion though.

  • You don't get a nice community by hand waving dirty dealing. The option is, call that sort of thing out when you see it, and try to help those who have been taken advantage of, or let exploitation rule the roost. I for one am glad we have a nice community that doesn't tolerate people being taken advantage of just because they don't know any better.
  • I agree with Ammit.

Yes, this is only a game, and yes, it's a game where each player has the freedom to set her own goals and play in the manner that suits her. But how you play a game says something about your philosophy of life and your moral stature.

If your goal is to breed flashy colored horses, or horses with fantasy genes, without paying attention anything but their looks, and then sell them for large sums to people who haven't learned to look carefully at pedigrees just to make money for your own stable, what does this say about how you will treat other people in real life?

This is the mindset of the notorious Bernie Madoff, who went around offering people enormous returns for letting him invest their money and then used it to enrich himself without fulfilling his rosy promises. In the end, he got caught and punished, but the people trying to acquire a secure retirement and good organizations that trusted him to invest their funds so that their programs could expand and grow to serve others--those people were left with nothing, their plans all in ashes.

Ammit has worked hard to create a marvelous game that is based on real life in all its aspects. She has also worked hard to foster a community that believes in helping fellow players, not taking advantage of them. It's a game and a community that tries to teach us to start from scratch and create something that grows bigger and better over time. If we decide to take short-cuts by misleading our fellow players, in the end we are only cheating ourselves, because we will have lost the chance to learn the most valuable thing this game has to teach us--patience and cooperation will take you farther than greed and selfishness. And this, too, is like real life.

    Here endeth the sermon. :)

  • yes! I agree with ammit and Sandycreek you are 100% right I couldn't have said it better myself. I like this game because there are a lot of the players that help each other all the time ive met several. then there are the people who are doing dirty dealings and only looking out for them self the people doing that could learn a thing or two from 90% of the players willing to take time out of there days to help other players. not ripping them off. I have been ripped off a few times but I think it was an uneducated sale not a knowingly rip off. there is a difference
