I have some blue papered 3g mares most are red? I think it is like 3 blue and the rest red. Do i just keep my red til i get more Blue?

My mares are lagging do i just snip and redo my 2g girls?

It's up to you. My usual decision about keeping mares has been based on their AFPT (because in the past, all papered mares had at least 3 foals). If a 3rd generation mare's AFPT wasn't at least 4 tenths of a point higher than her dam's, I would neuter her. And so forth, up the generational ladder.

Now that we can paper mares at birth, I may have to rethink that policy, but I haven't really decided yet.

I am puzzled right now. I am just thinking my mares are really lagging.

I snipped all the red papered 3g mares. If they're papering red, they're papering the same as their dams(or should be, anyway). Always look for an improvement.

I would snip any reds with low PT's and if you get desperate look colour. Maybe try breeding the same combinations that gave you blue's before :)

I don't have a whole lot of 3g mares, but out of the ones I have, I snipped most of the red papers. Only exceptions were mares that I just love the coloring AND still were giving me an improved AFPT. If I had lots of 3g mares to start with I may have snipped them all.

For me it would depend on how many gen3 mares I had at the time, if they bred as high reds then I'd keep them intact until I had enough blues to breed with
