Showing question
-
This mare was perfect at shows every time up until her last show she got 7th place and the horse that got first place hard a very low PT and inconsistent this makes no sense

pt tells you for how long a horse will train for I believe. Training effects a horses score, which determines where a horse will place in its group. Currently your horses score puts it near the bottom of its class, but next week it could be boosted to the top of its class, or to the very bottom of the next class (has happened to me). Just keep training and showing.
Consistency determines how much a score fluctuates. An inconsistent horse can have its score fluctuate to +3 than it would usually score on a good day. However next show it could have bad luck and score -3 than its consistent counterpart would.
Your horse didn't come last, and probably wont where she is, so why not show her? She'll still get some points.
Your horse is 3 years old, and intact. In my mind you shouldn't really be looking too close at where she's placing. Even a 3 year old altered horse I wouldn't look too close at just yet.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

Ok it just threw me off because she did so well in all her last shows and she almost came in last this time

Starfire, it might help if you stop looking at show results. In the grand scheme of things, they aren't all that important. As long as she's gaining points, she's adding to your show bonus, and that's all that really matters, in my opinion. Looking at the show results might end up just frustrating you. :)

but she placed in the last half of the class last time and I heard that takes away points and it concerns me that all these inconsistent horses are beating her what is the point of having a horse consistent if inconsistent horses are beating her
-
Inconsistent doesn't mean they're bad showers it just means they won't place in similar places every time, they'll jump about and sometimes they jump up, beating consistent horses. She also just moved up into a new class level and horses tend to show at the bottom when they first move up. Next week she'll likely be higher :)Thanked by 1kintara

she has moved up a couple of class levels but never came in almost last only placed first in every class

Don't worry Starfire - that's all perfectly normal. Like everyone else has said, don't worry so much about a horse's performance in a single show. All that really matters is whether overtime she earns you lots of points, which keep giving you money every day.
Horses never lose points, even if they place last, and they earn points no matter where they place unless they get come in absolute last place.
I personally show all of my horses regardless of how well they're placing except for levelled off horses, who I check and stop showing once they consistently keep placing last every single show (for several weeks in a row). Otherwise I figure they're always earning points which is earning me new money. -
Ok thanks for the advice

They'll still earn more points if they're levelled off, they just won't add to their show scores. Everything that isn't in a pasture gets shown, and most of my broodmares even have several hundred points. I have every barn on auto show, so they're always making me money. My show bonus goes up almost 1k a week, sometimes more.
