Hey, how about a contest? I need an idea for a tattoo for my Nexus line. I tried a spiral galaxy but I couldn't make it look right in the tattoo generator. The eclipse didn't either. Hmmmmmm... I need inspiration.

So I thought I'd put it to you guys. Here are the tattoos I currently have:

Oh, she's not wearing my DP tat, ran out of room, but you can see it at the bottom.

So you can get an idea of what I can actually draw in pixels :)

The person that comes up with my favorite idea that I use for my tattoo will receive 5 straws from stallions of mine, of their choice (some restrictions apply, there are some stallions I can't share). I may give consolation prizes too. If the winner isn't upgraded I'll work something else out for them (a foal from one of my stallions, something like that). Feel free to throw all the ideas at me that you can think of.

Alternatively, if you'd rather, I'll do a tattoo for you too, if you've got the winning idea. Your choice.

He's named Astraeus after the titan god of the dusk, and I've named a lot of foals after Greek mythology characters... maybe that'll be some inspiration for you.

So, I have no artistic ability whatsoever. But here are a few suggestions I think might be cool!

1-- a ringed planet
2-- a stylization of your favorite constellation (something similar to the stylized Southern Cross on the Australian flag)
3-- an olive wreath (Greek symbol for champion/victor)
4-- a beetle, since Astraeus is also a genus of beetles
5-- a letter from the Greek alphabet (my pick would be phi, which is the symbol for the Golden Ratio which was studied by the Ancient Greek philosopher/mathematician Euclid) (this is my favorite opion)

You could do a Nova with stars around it

Or

A Sonic blast with stars

A tornado/cyclone since Astraeus is associated with winds
Clouds for the same reason
Or one of those new wind mill thingies that generate power

A setting/rising sun since he and Eos are associated with Twilight
A sky sort of scene with fully visible stars at the top and less visible as it goes down, same reason

A judges hammer, for his daughter Astraea who represented innocence and justice

Olympic rings because Astraeus is referred to as one of the Gigantes, giants who battled Olympic gods

Also I have this image in my head, its from the first Fantasia movie in the pony scene, the Pastoral Symphony, after the storm all the various forms of equine come out to watch the sun setting...

I really liked some of the ideas here. Star stuff seemed really obvious and I loved some of the other ideas. Cheers couldn't possibly have known I'm a bug-o-phile, but since I am, I instantly fell in love with her beetle idea. I'll probably go with a scarab rather than the actual Astraeus genus. I'll show it to y'all when I get it done :)

ok, that's awesome that you have a pet praying mantis!!! is your love for six-legged creatures only, or do you also enjoy spiders? If you don't mind arachnids, check out the Australian Huntsman Spider--amazing creatures even if I am completely freaked out by them!

I'm so glad you liked my idea (I almost didn't put that one down because who wants a beetle as a brand?) and I appreciate your generous gift! I will go take a look at your boys now....cue the mood lighting for my girls!

Yep, I'm a friend of spiders too. A CUUUUTE little jumping spider got into my cricket container and helped herself last year, so I adopted her, and she had a gazillion babies that I took outside and said be freeeeee..... I love jumping spiders and orb weavers -- some of the others, not so much.

Oh that looks great! Love the colours on it.
I'm not too fussed about a prize TBH, it was a bit of fun looking up the gods and trying to come up with ideas from it. It seems to be a lot easier when its for someone else.
