Why is this happening?
-
Why is it so often for me that my offsprings get a high PT but then when i test them they get spayed or gelded?? :-((
-
Are they evenly bred? Papered well? Probably means they may be better at showing than a breeder ?
-
-
I was to scared to test her because i didnt want her to get spayed :-S Thats maybe the problem?
-
You do know that the stud is 2g B and if I had to guess the mare who is foundation bred is most likely yellow. So a little unevenly on the foal. What did the foal paper?
-
I would paper the intact foal from the pair. The gelding was gelded because of paper score.
-
I think it was because the mare is inferior to the stud. if you look at the foals family page he is uneven. If I understand now the foals are compared to both parents when it is born. So next time breed the mare to a foundation stud and see if the foal is intact.

@Stefliz, as best friend was mentioning, breeding advice is a test that determines if a foal will be a breeder about as good as both sire and dam. Previously, breeding advice compared colt to stallion and filly to mare only but that's another issue.
If you are looking to have best chance of getting an intact foal from a breeding, I would suggest breeding equal quality. You can find many threads that go into great detail about what this entails. The basic idea is paper level determines the approximately breeding ability of a horse such that you want to pair C to yellow, B to red, A to blue, and star* to gold*.
I hope that helps explain things a little. :)
EDIT: Also, PT does not indicate breeding ability. It has to do with how long a horse will train before it levels off and I think the number of points it will accumulate - I'm not as knowledgeable about the specifics. I do know that you cannot judge a horses breeding ability/quality by its PT score. The average foal PT of a horse does indicate its breeding quality. -
Accumulated points are tricky, I have horses that PT scores are in the 9's the horses are 15+ and still accumulate points.
But rule of thumb for quality and better chance of intact foals are as Ritsika stated (that you want to pair C to yellow, B to red, A to blue, and star* to gold*) I have also read somewhere about trying to breed close PT scores in conjunction with paper levels. -
I'm a relatively new player, but I wanted to also add another thought. I think it's important to remember that both intact and altered foals are a success! I've noticed a tendency to put the emphasis on getting intact foals - as if that's a win and a foal that is altered isn't.
I know we'll make more money off of horses that were altered. When I first started it was easy to feel disappointed when a foal didn't pass inspection. I've had to learn to celebrate my geldings and spayed mares as much, if not more so, than my intacts. -
@ FlyingColours Horses will continue to accumulate points even after they have leveled off, so long as you continue to show them and they aren't coming in last in their classes. They will only be adding points to their show scores in very tiny amounts, minute fractions of a point, after they level off though.
So yes, even a horse with a PT score in the 9's that is shown regularly and isn't placing last will be adding to its show point total regularly when it is 15 and will continue to do so until it finally levels up one last time or ages out of the game.
And even if the horse levels up and stops adding to its point total, if it has a decent number of show points, it is still worth keeping in your stable because it will still be contributing to your showing bonus.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."
