Pasture Breeding
-
I have 2 pastures and both are a mix of different lines/generations. I want to pasture breed but I don't want to do it randomly because of the different generations mixed within. Is there a way to breed one mare at a time vs. the whole pasture?
-
Yes. I have two pastures and I do it all the time. You'd have to move all but the mare you want to breed into one or the other pasture. Move the stallion you want into the pasture with the single mare. Make sure there's no stallion in the pasture with the rest of the mares. Click breed all pastures. Your other pasture won't breed if there is no stallion. Then just remove the foal, move the mare back to the first pasture and remove the stallion. Repeat.

What shad0cat said:)
Just put the stallion that you would like to breed the Gen 2 mares in the same pasture they are, and make sure there is no stallion in the Primary pasture.
The click 'breed all pastures' and it will only breed the pastures that there is a stallion in, and charge accordingly.
I bred four pastures separately this way today, so I knew which gen all the foals I was testing where from to make SBA/Naming/Tattooing a lot easierAztecArabians

I was afraid that was the only way :(
Why aren't you able to do the "in house breeding" with horses in the Pasture? -
I think it would be too confusing - some players have 100 mare pastures and to manually breed them all would be waay to hard!
Easier to shift the mares you want to breed into your second pasture and then put your desired stallion in with them. That way they keep their bonus.AztecArabians

Plus, the purpose of the pastures was as a place to keep the mares without using up barn space, and allow them to earn the bonuses, and do bulk breeding. The intent was not for a cheaper way to breed individual mares. Ammit could probably come up with a way to stop this type of work around if she REALLY wanted to!

I thought the purpose of the pastures was pasture breeding. I thought it was a different method of breeding that gave a bonus because it was more natural and the mares were living a more natural life. I thought the bonus was the trade off for not being able to show that mare for 30 days, or maybe even not at all for the entire time they're breeding. I'd hardly call the lack of points cheaper. Pastures cost real world money. Barns are by far a much better option for storing mares. In the real world people actually do pasture breed one horse to one horse sometimes.

Breeding in the pasture costs half as much are regular breeding. It's cheaper. If you want to pasture breed one horse at a time you will need to place one mare and one stallion in a pasture and breed them one at a time. Just like you would in real life.
