How bad is it to look at 4g or 6g boys?
-
I have 5g girls in pasture but no 5g boy will work this season. So would you look at your 4g boys A papered or your 6g boys A papered? I have boys in both generations that will work for these girls this season. How bad is it to breed uneven like that?
-
Its not necessarily a bad thing as long as they are close in breeding ability. The only thing is their re sale value will be low since not many people are open to breeding and/or buying uneven horses. And if that bothers you, you can always snip the resulting offspring and use them as nice show ponies.

I don't care at all about evenness of pedigree as long as the parents are a good match. There are several players that think the same, so its still possible to sell them, if they are decent.#28036

It's not bad at all from a game play perspective. I also don't think it would or SHOULD hurt resale for pedigrees that far off the page.

I don't much fuss about evenness once we get past gen 4. Use your judgement on your best match for the girls and go for it! If nothing else you will get a nice batch of show ponies but you might get a few gems!

Ok thanks. I think I am going to look and consider them for this season on my mates.

Most people become a bit more forgiving the higher the generation is. And since you are looking at horses that ate only one generation off with simular breeding ability it's even less of a hurt. Another option would be to see if someone would let you borrow theor stud for a pasture breeding. Id loan you one of mine but only have 4th gens----

Would you like to breed to my 5g boy? I bred him to hopefully high blues and got 2 gold fillies out of ten foals.

@wildland yes I would like to. I will have to pull my mates out of pasture
