KP Help
  • Hey!
How do I know if a horae has KP?

    I just got this girl!

So if a horse has kp does that mean they will automatically appear in the kp registry nomination drop down?

  • Given how none of the parents have kp, I doubt this foal will. I think it's the one that needs two kit genes to show up, and if so it will show that it is able to be registered in the kp club

    Prices are almost always negotiable.
  • KP is a hidden fantasy gene only available in the GMT lab. It has to be put on Foundation horses to be passed down. It is only expressed in horses that are homozygous for KP and also have 2 Kit pattern genes. Your filly has the 2 patterns but not the hidden KP.

Here is an example of Kit Promoter

In order for a horse to be in the KP breeders club or to show KP they have to be Hom KP

  • Does the same occur for gp?

  • It took me forever to figure out why my Kit pattern horses weren't being registered in the KP club! I remember finally asking someone and going "oooooooooh! That makes sense now!"
  • Divine, yep the same goes for gulastra. A horse must be homozygous for GP for it to show. It is tied to bay instead of kit, so a horse must be bay based, but you only need one gene of A, At, or A+. If I am wrong someone please tell me! This horse I am posting is GP, but his parents were only heterozygous for GP, so they only carry it instead of expressing it.

  • Can GP show up on a chestnut if it has a copy of A or does the horse also need to have a copy of E for GP to be visible?
  • And is GP another gene only purchasable through gmt?

  • I'm pretty sure GP needs to be on black based bays to be visible.

@DivineDreams GP is a gene that can be purchased through the lab. It does not appear in regular or special creates.

This guy his hom for both GP and KP. He's base color is confusing because he appears to be red based but he's actually a wild bay buckskin.

  • Also, remember that if you want to check to see if a horse is eligible for a breeders club it has to have had genetic testing first.

  • Which is the basic one that is on the control panel right?
Why when I am looking at some of the examples of GP and KP horses from other barns they arent tested? They are listed as "unknown". Yet they qualified for the breeding association.

  • Divine--you used to be able to enter the clubs without color testing. Color testing used to be much more expensive, and you could enter clubs with out it. So you could figure out what color your horses were by entering them into the clubs instead of color testing them...Ammit didn't like that so she made it much much cheaper to test but made the testing mandatory for club registration. Older horses that were already registered are still grandfathered in though.
    Thanked by 1ConfluenceFarms
  • Got links? If they are from parents that are both homozygous, then the breeder may not have tested them.

And yes, it is the link on the Control Panel page

  • Is KP a closed gene?

  • @DivineDreams Nope! Some breeders are picky about who they sell to but it is open to anyone :)
