I love my new foals !!:)
-
So I gave my brindle i bred yesterday a 5% boost and he still papered C and failed testing so I'm bummed about that so if your horse fails regular breeding advice do not waist money by boosting it they will still fail SBA and paper the same level. But I just GMTed some foals and they turned out great I'm very happy with them so I had to share :)
Exotic Magic 2g -
I believe that some of the people who had their Milestone foals fail regular breeding advice and then unaltered them and gave them 5% breeding boosts have reported that those foals passed SBA even though they were still C/Yellow papered. So I'd imagine that there's an element of luck involved too since you can't tell where those foals are in the C/Yellow paper range. You don't know if they were almost good enough to pass regular breeding advice or if they're such low quality that they are almost in the Failed/Showable Only range and just barely made C/Yellow.
-
Those other foals are stunning though, you always have such pretty babies! :D I think it's interesting that your liver hom Pearl splash girl (Magical treasure) got blue eyes instead of green but your chocolate pally Pearl splash girl (exotic treasure) got green eyes instead of blue. I thought the green eyes from Pearl were always dominant over the blue eyes from splash so the splash Pearl horses would always have green eyes but apparently that's not the case. Maybe the blue eyes from splash can sometimes "override" the green eyes from Pearl. I know there's the appy spot size experiment going on, I think an eye color one could be interesting too. Although I'm not sure how you'd do that since we don't know the specifics of what causes the blue eye color in splash horses and why only some of them have blue eyes. All we know is that splash sometimes makes blue eyes, Pearl makes green eyes (on hom Pearl and cream Pearl, not het pearl), and champagne makes Amber.
-
I know Windward I noticed that too lol it's very strange about their eyes and thanks ladies they turned out amazing I'm in absolute love with them and yes I hear you about my brindle boy it's such a bummer I really wanted him intact and B papered so bad I would trade these 3 fillies for him in a heartbeat :'( just my luck though I wish I didn't have him it was such a tease then waisted 45$ I'm not happy lol oh well
-
And Winward it's also weird that my het pearl liver chestnut at the bottom got blue eyes instead of brown I have never seen a black liver with blue eyes besides his dad so im guessing the Splash M made then blue but its weird that my chocolate palomino got green eyes with her having splash m too
-
I think it's because splash sometimes causes blue eyes but not always. Maybe the blue eyes from splash are the most dominant eye color so if a splash horse has the correct genetic combo to get blue eyes it will always show them. That would explain why your liver Pearl splash filly has blue eyes and your chocolate palomino Pearl splash filly does not. If neither one of those fillies had Pearl, I'm thinking that the liver one would still have blue eyes but the chocolate palomino would just have brown eyes.
-
All of the champagne pearls I've seen have always had green eyes instead of Amber eye so I'm guessing that the order of dominance for eye color (from most dominant to least dominant) is:
Blue
Green
Amber
Brown
I'm thinking that it works sort of like how the bay alleles work, where wild bay (A+) is always dominant over the other 3, then regular bay (A), then brown (At), and then no bay (a) is the least dominant. Of course, I might just be completely wrong on this lol. -
I think you might be right it makes sense it's pretty cool though. But I always thought Hom Pearl threw green eyes but I guess I was wrong lol

Wow such lovely babies! I am so jealous!DivineDreams ~ 30908

I know right the turned out perfect and thank you so much :)
-
I think any horse that's hom pearl or cream Pearl will always have green eyes, it's just that if the horse also has splash and gets blue eyes, the blue eyes cover up the green eyes since the blue eye color appears to be dominant over the green eye color. If your hom Pearl liver filly did not have the right gene combo to get the blue eyes from splash, she'd have the green eyes like your palomino Pearl splash filly.
-
So it has to be the Splash M that gives her blue eyes like her daddy I don't think any other splash gene does that though only SpM but the chocolate palomino is splash M too but her eyes are green so weird lol
-
All the splash genes can potentially cause blue eyes. I have quite a few blue eyed horses that only have regular splash and I believe some of my splash 2 horses have blue eyes as well. I don't know why splash sometimes cause blue eyes and sometimes doesn't. Maybe it has something to do with white factor or maybe it's a hidden gene that doesn't show up?
-
Here's a liver filly that's sort of similar to yours but without the Pearl and w2 instead of wM that I bred this year. She has blue eyes and only regular splash (I don't own Splash M).
WF Ringmaster 2G DP -
Oh ok glad you showed me her she's very pretty and that makes sense :)
-
Also, here's a hom Pearl mare that has regular splash and blue eyes instead of green. I'm not sure if you can get blue eyes with splash 3, I'm not familiar enough with that gene.
SGP Pleaded -
Here's a stallion that's hom Pearl and splash 3 with blue eyes instead of green so I guess I just answered my own question lol.
