Also, it looks like you're a newer player. If you start off by purchasing Stars and Golds instead of starting with foundations, it's going to be like playing on hard mode. If you're trying to get intact foals from quality high gen parents, you really have to study pedigrees and things like AFPT are extremely important. Star/Gold is the highest paper level, so once you hit that the only way to determine their quality is to study their pedigrees, their offspring, and look at their AFPTs. If you breed low Gold papered mares (ones that are about the same quality as a high Blue papered mare) to very high level Star papered stallions, or vice versa, you will still end up with mostly altered foals even though the paper levels match up.

If you're a new player and you're still trying to figure out how the game works (and I'm assuming this is you since you just asked in another post how the different mare and stallion paper levels match up) it's a much better idea to start off with foundations and work your way up to higher gens. It's a lot easier when you're breeding with foundations which is exactly what you want while you're still learning how the game works. Trying to start off with high gen and high quality horses is like starting off on hard mode while you're still trying to understand how the game works. It's going to get extremely discouraging and frustrating. It's a much better idea to start on easy mode with foundations so you can still have fun breeding while you learn how the game works. Then you'll naturally start moving on to some higher gens and higher quality as your initial 2G foals become old enough to breed and produce 3G foals, and then your 3G foals age up and produce 4G foals, and so on. And then by the time you have started producing your own homebred Star and Gold foals, you will understand the game well enough to be able to choose the correct two horses to breed together to get intact foals and continue to increase the quality of your Star and Gold offspring. To make a real life comparison, if you've never taken a Physics class before, you start off with something like Intro to Physics or Physics 101. You don't start off with a graduate level theoretical physics class, and if you do it'll be way too hard for you to understand what's going on.
