Want to Buy: Mega dot appy mares
-
Hey Cheers! I went through my entire herd of appys and I think I've found one that suits your criteria!
BV Like New
I hope it's alright she isn't a draft. :)
I have some more with bigger sized dots (not quite as big as hers^), so I don't think they qualify as megadots.

If either/both these girlies count as mega dot, you are more than welcome to have them! :)

@BlueValley--Like New is exactly what I'm looking for! And I totally don't care about bone or height--just my best examples of MegaDots happen to be drafts. If you aren't using her I would love to have her. I will add you to my buddy chat. Please put her up for whatever you would like to get for her.
@Crystal--that mare isn't quite a Mega I don't think. Thank you for thinking of me though!
@Bourbon--Lets Get Fizzy looks like a mega dot to me. I will add you to the chat room too. If you're willing to give her up, please put her up for me.
@KniKna I think Kurmaron may be a megadot. I'm adding you to the Buddy Chat as well.
@Stunner--Unscheduled Gal 3, Descant 3, Cognac Penguin 2, Liver blanket 2, I Know What I Want 3, and Perfect Liver Yule 2 are all MegaDots. I would gratefully take any you don't currently need.
If anyone has sold me appys that they would like back when I'm done with my experiment, please let me know and I will add notes to them! -
On mega or Micro. Is this in reference to dot size or how many dots a horse has?
At first I thought it was dot size but then one I'd call mega was referred to as micro so :-?
I have tons of appys all bred for this season but would be good for next month. -
She's only two years old but she's yours if she fits your criteria.
MW2 A Few Bucks More
She's in my SeekingSerenity stable not Wytchmore. :\ -
-
wow she is stunning Friesianpaints her spots have to be mega
-
@Skylight--dot size is what I'm referring to. I started out the thread also looking for a few microdots but have filled that need now. Most of the horse's early in the thread are Micros or small dots.
@Wytchmore she's stunning but she's not quite a mega dot I don't think. Thank you for offering her though!
@friesianpaints thank you! I grabbed her up! -
@Bourbon ill take ohh ohh my if shes still for off and unclaimed----

Thanks! If you ever decide to sell her, let me know :)

Mega for sure! You're still in my buddy chat. Could you please put her up there for me if you don't want her?
-
So Cheers since this is the second time Ive heard of your dot (micro and mega!) experiment and I havent seen the discussions on the facebook page on sizes of spots (I assume thats where they were lol) Im curious to know what your experiment consists of!

Thank you everyone! I have enough mares now!
@Moon--I have 3 pastures of appies. One is micro dots and one step down from mega, bred to a microdot stallion.
One is mega dots and one step up from micro, bred to a megadot stallion. N the middle I have a wide range of mares bred to mid range stallions. I am hoping to see some sort of correlation that will help me form a theory. My initial theory was that same dot size parents would produce a same dot size foal and that stallions at the extremes would pull their offspring towards that extreme.
I don't have enough evidence yet, but I'm not sure I can say either of those theories has backing at this point. I'm currently seeing a trend towards smaller dot size in most offspring, but that's from my first pass.
This is all somewhat complicated by the fact that I have to wait for the foals to age up to evaluate dot size, so I'm still going through last season's crop. Also, of course, by the fact that breeding two het appies together gives you a 50% chance of no dots, either through them not inheriting Lp from either parent or from inheriting it from both and being snowcaps. And then a small percentage of foals will be L Llp but varnished instead of spotted....so I'm tearing my hair out a bit! I will post results from the first season next week sometime.Thanked by 1MoonAcre Stables -
Very interesting!! I look forward to seeing your results when you post!
