horses being tested
-
why is there a lot of horses that are not being tested lately? how can we tell if the will be altered or not when we get them home? is there a reason for doing this? this is free to do isn't it?
-
I think it's just a whole lot of new people joining and not realising they should be testing their horses. Only thing I can think of is don't buy a horse that isn't tested, and if you are really tempted see if you can get it for 2500. That way at least you'll break even if the horse doesn't pass.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

sounds good. thank you.

I create horses, pasture breed them, and then sell the horses and their foals in auction immediately. It's quick, easy cash, because I'm trying to save up to do an egg flush at the end of the month. I dont think any of the horses I'm creating should be bred, really, so I dont bother testing them. I know a few others do this too, so in general I'd say to be wary of an untested horse for auction.Thanked by 1wendolyne

I will buy untested horses, If they are even and the parents match up nicely. I will also only buy them if they are 2500.
There have been a lot of duds but I have got some really nice papered beauties :)

I also tend not to test horses that are just being bred or used for auction fodder - it just isn't worth my time. I don't expect any to sell for more than 2500 so if someone wants to buy them, it's kind of like creating a new horse - same price and same chance they won't pass testing.Thanked by 1wendolyne

I put horses up for sale for 2500 when they don't pass my testing. They could be partially tested. I put them up for sale first and if they don't sell I alter them and put them in the auction. I like to think it gives people a chance to get in on some of my lines who wouldn't be able to do so any other way. The boys are still all B papered just not high enough for me to keep them. The next couple of season I'm going to have to start putting some mares up as well.
