Tips from some of the experts?
  • I would love some tips from those who have been playing for a while. What is the best way to weed out which horses I should keep? I got a little crazy with all the color options and have to many. I know that success in this game is thru the shows so I would love any tips you can give. Thanks!
  • Comparison test your studs : sons to their sires, siblings to each other and keep the AGA(As good as) and superior babies/studs. Breed alike paper levels (Red-B Yellow-C etc) or you can breed off a little like A-Red Yellow-B stuff like that. Along with even breeding and pasture breeding. Don't just breed for color get good lines going then add color that way. Showing is great tho and a good way to get money.
  • Also message AtA for your two show ponies that you can adopt.
  • While Wolfgang's advice is sound, it's not helpful unless you have an upgraded account.

For someone just starting out, I think these things are the most helpful:

Absolutely take advantage of the Available to Adopt program. You want your horses to be a good mix between lots of points and not too old. Horses in this game start to age out after their 17th game year. A game year is a calendar month, so horses that are 17 and up right now might age out of the game during the rollover tomorrow night. Horses only age out during rollover when the month changes.

Train everything you own. Show everything you own twice a week. Gaining show points is the way to build your show bonus, which is the main way to make money. It's a slow process, but once you get rolling, it makes a huge difference. The general rule of thumb is you want at least 3 established show ponies for every breeding horse you have.

Don't forget to sign up for your Wecome Pack at the top of the Forum.

Look through the Breeders Clubs in the Community Tab, and learn how to use the Horse Search to look for horses based on color and pattern. This is the best way to start to figure out what you might want to breed for yourself.

Build your mare and stallion herd from the Foundation Rescue, owner 13. All the horses in the Rescue will be Perfect Foundation quality, meaning they will have 100% breeding and showing ability and be perfectly consistent.

Good luck and have fun! And don't hesitate to ask questions. The Community here is awesome about answering and helping out where we can!

  • Showing horses is the way your stable makes the most money. It's a good idea to have a string of neutered horses, which usually train about a game year longer than the intact stallions and mares. However, show your breeding stock, too. They can also do well in the show ring, and the more horses you have showing, the more money you will earn.

How does this happen, you're probably asking. Well, in every class, all the horses entered, except the one that comes in last, are awarded a certain number of "show points." These points stay in the horse's record until it ages out of the game, even when it is sold.

The game keeps track of how many points all your horses have earned, and you will receive 75% of the total points each week, paid out nightly. So you get 1/7th of the showing bonus every day.

Over time, as you collect more horses and they begin aging up and entering higher level classes, it's possible to reach the point when your showing bonus can finance almost anything you want to do in the game, even the most expensive things. The exception are limited edition genes that Ammit, the game's creator, sells for real money from time to time.

My horses have a total of 745,443 points, at this moment. My daily showing bonus, right now, is 79,868 hajibucks, so I'm getting about 150,000 hbs every two days!

If you stay at it long enough, you can do the same.

  • Thank you so much. I have a free account and loaded myself with a ton of horses. I will use your tips. How do you suggest I sort thru the horses I already have? I wanna make sure I don't have a ton of horses that aren't worth while. I already try not to keep anything with showing ability under 9.0 unless they are a really unique color
  • Use breeding advice on everything! If it can't pass Breeding Advice, it's not worth breeding, no matter how pretty.

If you can, use your pasture for breeding. It costs half as much per foal. If you want, you can leave mares in the pasture to gain the Pasture Bonus, but it means they can't show.

If you have room to buy some more show ponies, watch the auctions. You can sort by PT Score or by All Time Points to try to get horses that already have some nice points or that have a high PT who will make better show ponies than Foundations or gen 2s.

Once you find colors or patterns you love, then you can start sorting through your breeding horses to get them to suit your goals. Until then, just play around and breed/create a little bit of everything.
