I have been working on an uneven breeding experiment for several months now. I wanted to see how fast I could go from Foundation to 50% testing survival rate when breeding to my 9 and 10th Gen studs. Each generations the males all get culled and I breed the mares back to my high Gen studs. I wanted to see how much faster it was using a strong stud on weak mare, rather than breeding up even generations. I only run the breeding advice tests on the males, and I am using them as a sort of litmus test as to when I can start testing the mares without losing them all. Mares I cull by papers. Blue for 2nd gen, Gold for 3rd gen. 4th Gen will be gold too, and I am hoping that by 5th gen I can start testing the mares to cull them.

I am breeding for 3rd Gens now. This round I out of roughly 100 males I had 7 survive breeding advice and 1 survive strict breeding advice. The mares were about 50/50 Gold and Blue. My PT's are in the mid 12's. With a few as high as 12.9. Over all the experiment is going well. As I said, I hope to have a decent number of horses surviving breeding advice testing by 5th Gen, at which point the mares will get cycled into my regular herds and treated the same as the evenly bred horses. Considering my current horses are 9 and 10th gen (though I have really stopped counting the generations, and tried to focus on pairing strong breeders) The method seems to be 50% faster than regular breeding. Time will tell though.

That being said, I would not recommend this method to any new player. I started out doing things the standard way, and that gave me a decent feel for the game. (I also have more HB's than I know what to do with. I can afford to have it all fail miserably.)
