Is my filly DP?
-
I'm not good with DP on Silver yet, so can you all take a look please? And tell me what you think. :)
3G Smoked Jewel KITm -
I'm not positive, but she doesn't look like she'll be much darker than her dam, and her grand-dam is a plain homozygous sooty bay foundation, and to my eye doesn't appear to be carrying DP. Her grand-sire on the dam's side also has no proof of being DP either.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

I think she has DP and may even be homozygous for it.
This appears to be a pretty typical sooty silver buckskin
Golden Tomorrow
As you can see, your foal is way darker than this.
This girl is het DP through her Freaky Friday dam. Much darker. But your girl may be even darker.

This is another het DP, this time from a Kings Ransom sire.
Jai Shadow Maker 2DR
I'm not quickly finding anyone that I'm confident is homozygous for DP to compare her to, but your filly has DP on both sides of her pedigree at the foundation level, and her sire is definitely het DP. I will be interested to see how dark she is as an adult.
-
I'd say she is at least het DP
-
Thank you everyone, I'll add her to my DP line :)
-
Her grandsire is a Freaky Friday, so her sire is Het DP, but I can't eyeball it on the maternal side. I'd wager she's het DP from her father.
Not to mention she looks nearly the same color as Cheers' het example. Probably only darker because of the luck of the portrait roll. A very cute foal in any case!! -
@deardiamond and @SandycreekFarm the dam's sire is a Kings Ransom, which are always at least het DP. The dam is darker than a regular sooty silver buckskin, so I think both gen 2s are het DP. I'm just not sure Smoked Jewel got both copies!
I think she's significantly darker than both of my het examples. Her legs are a darker shade of brown and she's not as golden through the barrel. But I often find it difficult to pick the nuances of color in a foal coat and wouldn't be willing to say she's Hom DP until I can compare her adult color to horses I'm confident are het DP.
