I was wonder if I'm the only one that keeps all the horses that get altered for show bonus even when they are foals? I sell more intact horses then I do alters I don't know I think I might be the only one because people are always putting their alters in auction..it would be cool to find out what people do with their alters... :D

I try to keep some if I have room but usually sell them and buy Proven Show Ponies :)●▬▬▬▬▬▬๑۩۩๑▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●

I tend to keep 99% of all my spelds (spays and gelds). If I need room, i'll sell an altered foal back to the game here or there but other than that I keep them all :)Thanked by 1StarfireAcres

I keep my snipped if the have a good PT score and if they're getting a decent amount of points up to the age of 3 other wise if they're not showing well for me I'll sell them to make room for others that are making pointsThanked by 1StarfireAcres

I keep everything because I have a pixel pony hoarding problem. But if I'm tight on space or short on hbs, I will sell a second altered horse back to the game if they are still a yearling with a poor PT score.
EDIT: The auctioning is getting less and less though. I can't remember the last time I did.Thanked by 1StarfireAcres -
The only horses I tend to ship to the auction are low PT horses that get snipped by SBA. And by low PT, I generally mean something below about 8.5 or, if inconsistent, below 9. Fortunately, my showing bonus is large enough that I can afford to buy barns with IV's whenever I need one.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

I Auction all spelds with a PT below 10.0. I keep everything else as a foal. Occasionally I will auction broodmares who aren't living up to my standards. Depending on what their offense is, they may or may not be spayed.Thanked by 1StarfireAcres

Ok wow a lot of you sell the alters with low PT score I keep everything because I have seen horses with low PT score rack in the points and I have also seen inconsistent horses rack in the points so I keep everything you just never know if she/he will be a good shower :)

I still have a mild barn shortage space issue, though it is getting better as my bonus goes up. I am at the point where I manage to get a new barn within a day or three of needing one. In the meantime, I keep everything 10.5 and above and for foals from foundations it is 10.4 and up. Once I do not have a barn issue, then it will be 10.0 and above.Thanked by 1StarfireAcres

I try to keep most but i sell them if I'm desperate for roomThanked by 1StarfireAcres

I keep all my altered horses, you never know who is going to be a good show horse until they level off. I have seen many horses who do poorly while leveling up and rake in the points once they level off.
If you are going to spend Real Life money on the game, they very best investment you can make is barn. A year ago I bought a thousand stall barn with real money. Filled it with show ponies. I now have 5-thousand stall barns and I never spent another real life penny on barns.
Pt doesn't tell you how good a show horse a horse will end up. I have horses with 11.2PT who have 3 times the points that some of my (equal aged) 12.8 horses have. It just tells you, roughly, how high up the ladder a horse may go. Any horse can end up in a good spot or a poor spot. Best to just keep them all.Thanked by 1StarfireAcres -
Yes I agree with you 100% dark star it's really cool to know you keep everything as well. You just never know how good a horse will be at showing until the level off I do keep mares with even 8 PT and below for embryo transfers I just keep any PT but I have altered everyone that need to be altered witch is great for my show bonus I have more show horses then I do breeders and most all the mares that I am breeding at the moment are in pasture with 30 days bonus. But I do have way more mares then I can breed so I do sell my breeding horses so someone else can use them since I won't.. :) oh and I do have horses with around 10 PT that have more points then a 12 PT horse and they are the same age so it is really and gamble and luck when it comes to most everything on this game

While I know there is the odd low PT horse with ridiculously high lifetime points, the fact is that the odds are that a higher PT horse will earn more lifetime points. My policy was instituted back when I struggled a bit for barn space and even though I'm now drowning in empty stalls, I've maintained it. If you're willing to keep everything that's fine, but for most newer players who are struggling for space, it's a much better bet to auction their low PT spelds and use those funds to try to buy established show ponies or higher PT horses with a better earning potential. Yes, some of those will be duds and some of the low PT horses they threw away might be stars, but in my experience its worth the gamble.Thanked by 1StarfireAcres

I usually do a bit of both. High pointers get kept.Thanked by 1StarfireAcres

Fun fact the horse with the most points in the whole game has a low PT :)

And here is the horse with the second highest points in the game. Low PT again only a 3rd gen

Personally, I would NOT class PT scores in the 10's as "low PT." I'd call them mid-range. Those two are also in their twenties, so they've had several more years showing than the average HaJ horse.
A truly low PT score is less than 1. :D
A created horse that starts at 3 with a PT in the 4 range will level off as soon as it turns 4. Since it will add very little to its score with each training, even if created in the first week of the game year, it may barely get into Level 2L. It has very, very little chance to add many points, no matter how long it stays in the game.
Here is my neutered horse with the lowest PT, 0.6. She is 11 years old, has been showing at 1R since she was created. She IS consistent, but since there are never more than three horses in a class, luck plays a pretty heavy role in the results. Her score is now 3 and crept up to that from 2 when she turned 8, I think. She is finally coming in first or second in the class fairly regularly. Eventually her score may creep up to 4, and she might end up showing at the bottom of 1N. She has a total of 21 points.
I keep her because she's so pretty and I can afford to have a few like her in my stable. :D

I understand that it's not really low like in the 4s or whatever but people sell and cull their horses for having 10 PT or lower and they would call it a low PT score and that is why they won't keep the horse for showing they will just action it off. And besides I keep all my horses personally for the showing reason and because I get this huge bond with the horses I breed or make. And yes it's about luck weather a horse does good or not but I feel I have to give them a shot to prove them selfs and by that point they would have already made some points and the points that they do make is better then nothing and not worth selling them to me anyways :) and Cheers I do understand selling non proven show horses for proven show horses but no one seems to let go of their proven show horses and if you get some proven show horses from someone else your very lucky. Because I have put an ISO ad for proven show horses in the forum but got no replys because proven show horses on here are like gold no one wants to sell them because every point counts weather it's 100-1000 points and PT does not matter.

I used to every single one and that's honestly what I prefer to do but I've run out of space and now I sell lots of unaltered stock. Until some of my older show pons pass I'll gave to keep selling them----
