Bows or no bows? Opinions!!
-
I started putting bows in their manes because they reminded me a lot of the ribbons that get braided into the manes of many Baroque horses...
But now I am starting to wonder which looks better for my horses. So, what do you guys think? Bows or no bows?
Bows:
No bows: -
I think if you get any interestingly colored manes, the bows will obstruct them. Plus I think they contrast too much with the rest of the horse so that they kind of over power it and stop your eyes. :P
I vote NoBows!Thanked by 1royal drakon -
I agree with EccentricEquines. I like bows for my solid colored manes and no bows for my bi-colored manes.
-
I like bows, especially with the running braid. I'm hoping Ammit will give us more color options on them eventually.
-
Abbey Road, oh that would be so cool! :)
-
I like bows also, but I think the bows don't show up well on patterned manes, as well as hiding the pattern of the mane. I also vote bows on solid manes and no bows on patterned manes.

I think particularly with the dark horses against the dark background, the light bows are distracting. But I seem to be clearly outvoted. And my issue is not with the bows specifically here, but with the overall color scheme of the picture. Particularly with the picture you've put up, the bows and the hooves are the brightest spots in the photo, pulling my eye away from the head of the horse, which, in my opinion, should be the focus point. This isn't so much an issue in the second horse because he has that loud snip on his nose, drawing my eye there first.
-
Hmm.. maybe there may be all black ones, one day? Hmmm.
I can always darken hooves. I prefer the dark backdrop because it just appeals to me more. Not sure why haha. I think it is that it reminds me of something more classical, which is what I like.
In real life I own both baroque breeds and sport horses... so naturally I lean towards that baroque or classic, european sport horse sort of look. I even do running braids on some of them, often ;) so you can see why I choose running braids for my pixel ponies. Anything that reminds me of my horses that I own in real life ;) because I love them so hehe
I agree, the white is a little more distracting.... but on the other hand... it adds a little more 'uhmph', which I also like. Such a hard decision. ;-; -
I think if black bows became available that would be amazing! Or a gold like on your brow bands! And I love the dark background too!
-
Welp, looks like I'm outvoted, so I'll amend it to bows on solid, none on not.
I think for the distraction factor, it might help if you had a ribbon on the tail, too, and/or possibly a darker colored set of polo wraps. I've been keeping my stock mostly tack free, myself. As long as the body is open, really.
I've been using the darker backgrounds on my stallions to make them look especially special. :) -
I agree, Cheers! Gold would be nice!! ;)
-
Hmm, polo wraps might be a good idea. Hmmmm ;) I can try that too!
-
Is the adding bows and saddles etc a premium feture?
-
No hidden its not, anyone can add bows or saddles or bridlesLife is Special live it to your fullest

Just go to the Control Panel on your horse's page, and near the bottom there's a Tack Manager link where you can shop and try on tack. Sometimes it doesn't align while you're shopping because of different horse sizes but it works out once you've purchased.
