What are the chances of that?

I bred this mare and she threw a filly with a nice PT so I thought I'd test her. Not only did she get a Fancy PT of .2 she's also inconsistent. I'm getting boat loads of Inconsistent foals from consistent parents so dont need to keep any Inc. foundies on purpose. I did get a super nice baby though.

You can always GMT a foal to consistent

Inconsistency is only for showing its not that big of a deal really. Well to me at least even my inconsistent horses do well.
These mares are inconsistent and I only spayed and started showing them this January she already has 650 points (15yrs old)

I know that its only for showing but an inconsistent is more likely to produce an inconsistent. I also know that 2 consistents can throw an incons.

I'm not trying to be rude by any means but I don't get why thats a problem really if you have enough horses then it does it really matter.

@Wolfgang--
While I know inconsistency mostly affects show score, and I could care less whether my show ponies are consistent or not, I do not allow inconsistency in my breeding herd. I cull strictly in my herd, both by SBA and Paper with young maresbut also very strictly based on AFPT in my established broodmares. Inconsistent horses tend to have a lower PT than consistent horses by a margin of at least 0.5 of a point, sometimes more. Inconsistent mares are more likely to throw inconsistent foals, resulting in a lower AFPT, so I just eliminate them from the get-go and keep my AFPTs high.
If you don't cull by AFPT this won't matter as much. Similarly, if you cull by a cut-off PT you will eliminate a lot of inconsistent horses just by removing most of the lower PTd animals from your herd. But I personally cull by AFPT and thats why inconsistency is a big deal for me in my Breeders. -
@Cheers
Yep don't do any of that I'm strictly by BA and Paper level none of the rest of that matters to me what so ever even low PT horses can produce good PT foals. I don't even look at AFPT and I don't have SBA. If I have a yellow/red mare to a c/b stud I expect a red/b foal but in certain circumstances I allow yellow/c. I merged accounts recently and those horses aren't the best but I'm not altering them because they haven't had a proper chance yet. Any foals from my YLA stud or GC stud that paper yellow/c are sold right away no matter the pt, dams paper or gender same with all higher gens I've personally bred on this account. Other than the paper and BA results I don't mess with them.
I've had one exception though my S+ saSa 3G A stud was bred to a Blue 3G mare earlier this season(maybe last) it produced a B papered colt not gelded by BA I comparison tested him to his sire and he was AGA so he remains now. Not sure how it happened but he'll be kept intact. -
Inconsistent is fine for a show horse. I have one that has placed at the top of the breeders clubs but I'm trying to weed them out from the breeders. I have a few Incons. foals that I'm GMTing consistent just cuz I like their color and how they papered. Getting expensive lol.

Yeah I guess I get it but it is what it is can't stop you or change your mind and don't want to its your herd I hope you produce amazing breeders and showers :)
-
@wolf--the way you ended up with B colt AGA his A dad is that the colt is a very high B and the sire is a very low A. They're separated by very few percentage points, but your colt is still worse than his dad. If I were you I'd snip the colt because you know he won't contribute to making your herd better...at the very best he will keep your quality at a standstill, but his very best foals will be slightly worse than his dad's very best foals and really that means you'd be going backwards.
That said, there is no wrong way to play the game. I breed for an aggressive increase in quality every generation by culling very strictly. You aren't breeding the same way and that's fine! In fact, if you're breeding for something in particular and might be interested in some inconsistent mares, let me know. Since they tend to be low PT, mine often end up snipped and in the auction, but I'd be willing to give you a chance at the girls that pass SBA before I snip them if you're interested.Thanked by 1Wolfgang Pride -
@Cheers I might be interested in some when ever you get any just message me and if I have room and want them I snatch them up :)
