Way to many boys for my 2nd generation Liver line
-
I know everyone has this problem. I cull hard and still had to go back. I culled everyone who was inconsistent and I'm still left with 9 boy of only which 2 I can talk myself out of keeping. lol I'm horrible. So here they are and my reason for keeping.
WO2 Scotch Bonnnet
He's a BOP foal must stay
WO2 Chipotle Pepper
I've had his so long I've kind of gotten attached to him and I would feel bad about snipping him because he's such a nice boy.
WO2 Bhut Jolokia
Homo DP must stay
WO2 Omitted Aphotic
BOP foal must stay
WO2 Absurd Chili Flakes
Homo DP must stay
WO2 1167754
This boy I could sell
WO2 Chocolate Bell Pepper
Chocolate Palomino must stay to create Choco Pal herd
WO2 1167758
This boy I could sell
WO2 1242213
Chocolate Palomino must stay to create Choco Pal herd
What should I do? I only really need two liver boys and the two Chocolate Palomino boys will go to create their own herd. -
Have you comparison tested them against each other? They are all lovey. I love livers and I don't know what I would do if I had that many! You could also rotate them every other season. Two boys one season and two others the next.
-
I only use 30 count pastures for my lines. Those only allow you to use 1 stallion a year. I normally keep two stallions and rotate them. I haven't compared them to each other yet. I could also compare them to my 2nd gen benchmark, not all of them are compared to him yet which might cut them down more.

1. Compare them and keep the best pair. This can get pricey
2. Keep the pair that produce the best foals
3. Keep the homozygous DP boys and sell the others.
If you decide to sell one of the hom DP boys I'm very interested in buying one. I breed for both DP and sabino.----
