GMT Token
-
I'm a bundle of nerves. Maybe some of you remember when you acquired your first GMT token. I cashed in a candy corn mare instead of selling for the money and here we go into a whole new world and I don't know where to begin - or who to begin on. If any one wishes to offer advice, I'd be very grateful. I like black, and rabicano, appaloosa, but would love to start working on Gulastra Plume

How many tokens do you have?

It's exciting, isn't it? :D I think I started with adding Splash 2 to a couple studs and then fell down the rabbit hole. :P

Congratulations!
GMTing is totally addictive, so enjoy it!
If you only have one or two GMTs, GP is currently out of your reach. It costs 5 tokens per copy and you need two copies for it to show (which doesn’t mean you couldn’t put one copy on a stallion and breed for homozygous at gen 3).
A few general pointers:
Use your GMTs on the best quality foundations you can get your hands on. A Perfect Foundation or an ExPro or an Exceptionally Perfect Horse. Remember that you have the best intact rate breeding like to like, so if most of your mares are regular creates, I’d GMT a Perfect Foundation quality horse.
You get most bang for your buck GMTing stallions, since they can have more babies per season than mares.
Remember your horses have to be Foundation generation and 4 years old or younger with no living foals to be able to GMT them with new genes.
Good luck!Thanked by 1DoubleMash -
Lined horses can also be GMTed to receive a gene that they missed out on from their parents. So for example I had this gorgeous *star stallion, and I was super bummed that he originally missed out on getting the silver from his mother.

So I spent a GMT to add the silver onto him. GMTs for lined horses to add a gene they missed only cost 1 GMT, so it's a bargain in my opinion if you're adding a rare gene that your foal missed out on. I could not have added genes to him that his parents didn't have. So for example it would have been impossible to GMT KP onto this stallion because neither of his parents have KP.
If you are GMTing a foundation Rabicano and Appaloosa are cheap to add to a horse, but they are also very prolific in the game. Particularly appaloosas. So it may be cheaper to add that gene to your herd by finding horses who already have that gene rather than spending your GMT.
Good luck!SALVISTAR PERFORMANCE HORSES
